"Cellular Responses to DNA Damage; Translational Cancer Genomics"

Research focuses on cellular responds to DNA damage, in particular via cell cycle checkpoint control.  We investigate signaling processes and feedback regulation that tie DNA damage sensing (via Rad9A) to processes including DNA replication and repair, apoptosis, and cell cycle regulation.  We also use genomic and proteomic techniques to develop novel screens for individuals that are at risk of developing breast cancer, via a deficiency in the BRCA1 tumor suppressor.  Finally, we use molecular and genomic techniques to study circulating tumor cells, to better understand and ultimately disrupt the metastatic process.
