At the 2011 Annual Meeting of the US National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) in Chicago the Award for Excellence as the NHF Researchers of the Year was made to Drs. Paula James and David Lillicrap for their clinical, translational and basic studies of von Willebrand disease and hemophilia.

The US National Hemophilia Foundation was established in 1948. The Foundation is a nationwide organization dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for bleeding and clotting disorders and to preventing the complications of these disorders through education, advocacy and research. Medical and scientific guidance is provided to the NHF through a formally constituted Medical and Scientific Advisory Council comprised of US clinicians, clinician/scientists and basic scientists engaged in bleeding disease treatment and investigation.
