Pathology Researcher obtains $200,000 to study the procoagulant cofactor, factor VIII

Dr. Christine Hough, a senior investigator in the Molecular Hemostasis Research Group, has been awarded a 2-year grant for $200,000, to support her evaluation of the role of endothelial cells in the biosynthesis of the procoagulant cofactor, factor VIII.
This granting success has come in the 2010-11 Bayer Hemophilia Awards competition, the only international granting program focused on inherited bleeding disease research, currently in its 8th year of funding. Dr. Hough's proposal was one 5 operating grants selected from 19 submissions that were invited to provide full applications for this competition.
